​Marty Swan, a native of Monroe, Louisiana, is an artist and calligrapher living in Covington, Louisiana.  She currently works mainly in colored pencils and is published in Creative Colored Pencil, by Rockport Publishers.  She has been the calligrapher for the Louisiana State Board of CPA’s for the last 26 years. She has won many ribbons for her work in colored pencil and has exhibited in art shows around the state.
She has also worked as a graphic artist for the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service and for The Boeing Company. Ms. Swan is a charter member of the Colored Pencil Society of America, and is a former member of the Slidell Art League and the New Orleans Lettering Arts Association.

Ms. Swan graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in Art Education and Fine Arts from the University of Louisiana at Monroe, and is listed in Who’s Who in Art in American Colleges and Universities.  Then she attended the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa, where she took various graduate level courses in drawing, commercial art, lettering and illustration, graphic design, interior design, typography, and art history.

At Delgado Community College in Slidell, Louisiana, she taught Drawing I, II, & III.  For the St. Tammany Parish community education program, she taught art and calligraphy courses. She also taught elementary art classes in New Orleans, and conducted private art lessons in her home.
